PADDY BOUMA was trained as a painter and printmaker at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, University of Paris. She taught Lithography and Illustration at the Dept. of Visual Arts, University of Stellenbosch from 1971-2006. She has written and/or illustrated a large number of picture books that have been published internationally.

JOHN STEPHENS is Emeritus Professor in English at Macquarie University, and Editor of International Research in Children's Literature. He is author of several books and about a hundred articles, and was recipient of the International Brothers Grimm Award in 2007, in recognition of his contribution to research in children's literature.

DOLLY DLAVANE, a librarian by profession, is a lecturer at the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus). Behind her is more than 20 years of teaching experience with more interest in African Literature, drama to be more precise. She is also a translator, proofreader and editor of school learning material. She has gained tremendous experience in the workshops that she presented at the Northern Cape Province`s Department of Education on drama, poetry and creative writing.
